Rotary Club learn about signals corps and have a good sing song at a Carol concert
The Rotary Club of Formby welcomed Ian Thompson from Squirrels Rotary Club who came along to a meeting recently. Ian had been a member of the Royal Corps of Signals. He spoke to the Club about the beginnings and history of communication systems in the Army. He then went on to talk about the modern Corps and its hi tech communications. It was an interesting insight into a branch of the Army we don't know a lot about. The photograph shows Speaker secretary, Peter Connor and Club members welcoming Ian.
Later in the week the Club held its annual Carol Concert at St Luke's Church Formby. The Aughton Male Voice Choir sang a selection of festive songs and led the congregation in the Carol singing. Mulled wine and mince pies were served in the interval. Once again this event was very well supported. The Club would like to thank everyone who attended and for supporting the raising of funds for Diabetes UK NW section.
The Club would also like to thank Vicar, Harvie Nichol, Ann Woods and Gwyneth Croft for the use of the church and helping set it up for the concert.
If you are interested in finding out more about Rotary or are interested in joining the Club please contact the Club Secretary Oliver Whitaker and come along to a meeting. He can be contacted on 01704 877209.
