Formby Christmas Lights Switch-on is hosted by Radio City's Claire Simmo this Sunday 25th Novemb

The beautiful Christmas Tree stands on Chapel Lane in our village waiting for the big switch on this Sunday. Formby Christmas Lights will be turned on in an event to beat all others. Radio City are hosting the event from 2pm on Chapel Lane and Brows Lane with Claire Simmo as the main host.

Formby will see the return of our beloved Frosty the Snowman again this year which will be at Formby Pool. He will be joined by lots of bigger fairground rides which are being provided by Southport Pleasureland's Norman Wallis.

There will be Christmas market stalls, children's fairground rides and entertainment from 2pm culminating in the lights being switched on at 5pm. Festivities will continue on through 'till 7:30pm.

This year the rides and other entertainment will extend out to the front of Formby Pool. Road closures will be in place on Brows Lane, Rosemary Lane jnc. Brows Lane, Elbow Lane jnc. Chapel Lane and at the Chapel Lane roundabout. The stage will be by Boots Chemists at the top of Chapel Lane.

Father Christmas will be at Formby Pool from 3pm with the Rotary Club.

Cllr Denise Dutton has managed to sort out FREE PARKING at Sumner Road car park from 1pm on the day of the switch-on - Sunday 25th November.

Claire Simmo is a Radio City 2 presenter and is on with Rossie weekday mornings 6 ’til 10, or on DAB station Heat Radio Sunday afternoons from 12 ’til 4.

The event is FREE ENTRY as always. The Formby Christmas Lights Appeal committee, headed by Cllr Denise Dutton, are currently fund raising and thankful to all the local traders, local organisations and private donations for helping to keep Formby Village twinkling and looking beautiful throughout the festive period.
