Village Vets dog show 2018

On Saturday 1st September 2018, The Village Vets situated at 1 Brows Lane in Formby are hosting their 7 th Annual Dog Show in the grounds of the practice from 12:30pm to 4pm. This is a very popular event for the community and everyone is invited! There is plenty going on during the day too!

We have ‘West Lancs Dog Display Team’ doing an agility display. There will be live music, pet photographer, face painting, tea, coffee and cakes along with pony rides. We also have the ever popular bottle tombola and teddy tombola. It is set to be a busy day and we are hoping to raise lots of money for our two chosen charities, Pets As Therapy and StreetVet. All proceeds are going to charity, this year we are raising funds for two amazing charities, StreetVet and Pets As Therapy (PAT dogs).

The first charity is PAT dogs, they are a charity who enhance health and wellbeing in the community through the visits of trusted volunteers with their behaviourally assessed animals. They provide a visiting service in hospitals, hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues all across the UK.

Our second chosen charity is StreetVet. StreetVet is a registered practice with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and has been established by a dedicated team of professional vets and veterinary nurses to bring that essential care to homeless people and their dogs across the capital. Together the StreetVet team take their experience out onto the streets of London, Bristol, Brighton, Plymouth and Cambridge seeking out people; their dogs living rough, and delivering care and support required to ensure their combined wellbeing. We hope to raise some money to expand their area. Practice Principal Kate Higgins said, ‘‘The Annual Dog Show is always a great success and there is always a good turnout! In 2017 we raised over £2400 split between The Cinnamon Trust and Breast Cancer Care, in 2016 we raised £3000 split between Hack Back and Nowzad. In 2016 we raised £1500 for Hounds for Heroes Registered Veterinary Nurse Stephanie Driscoll said ”As a practice we enjoy raising money for charity, we often have a bake sales to raise money for different charities including Queenscourt Hospice and Macmillan.”

The highlight of the day is the dog show of course! The classes are listed below, with a £2 entry fee for each dog being entered into each class. Entry is now open for all classes, with entrants being able to sign up at reception prior to the day, or on the day.
