Priory Kitchen closed it's doors after 36 years on Saturday but continues to run the catering si
On Saturday 12th May, we saw the closure of one of Formby's longest standing businesses, The Priory Kitchen in Redgate.
Priory Kitchen closed its doors on the retail side of the business after almost 36 years of trading, making it one of the longest standing businesses that Formby has known. The bakery and outside catering business has seen many members of staff and even more customers come through the doors over the years.
Owners, Yvonne and Tony, made it the success it was, more recently with Tony running it with Velma and Maxine by his side. Tony, who turned 60 in March, has decided the time has come to take semi retirement but to continue trading with outside catering on request. Catering will continue from the same premises as and when he has a job and the name will remain Priory Kitchen contacted on 01704 879232. It is just the day to day retail side that has closed its doors.

Tony's daughter, Michelle Blake said: "Priory Kitchen was originally set up in September 1982 by my mum and dad, Yvonne and Tony. It has seen so many stories (including my own as that is where my husband Dan Blake and I worked together when we were younger). A true family business - my grandparents were a regular help when they were alive and my brother and I both cut our teeth working there over the years."
"Mum and Dad separated in 2010 but remain good friends with Mum still helping out as and when she was needed. I hope you all agree that they’ve had a bloody good innings and to wish my Dad and the team all the best."
We wish Tony and his team at Priory Kitchen all the best for the future in the catering business and if you should require professional caterers with over 3 decades of experience, please give them a call on Tel: 01704 879232.
