The National Trust car parks in Formby are full. The full signs are up. The best way to visit our beautiful Formby beach is to travel by train. If you get a train, get off at Freshfield station and walk down Victoria Road. It is FREE to get in if you walk in.
Yesterday the traffic queue was over a mile long which caused chaos on the roads surrounding National Trust. Please have respect for people's driveways and do not block them. Also traffic wardens are out booking any cars that are parked on yellow lines and on pavements.
A spokesperson for National Trust Formby said: "We are now operating a one car out, one car in system and it is taking 40-50 mins to find a parking space. If you can possibly get here on the train, then you would be well advised to do that but please think carefully about setting off now by car, the situation won't improve till much later on on the day."
With blue skies and glorious sunshine forecast for the Bank Holiday Monday, everyone heads to the beach and the Forrest but please consider getting the train otherwise you will be stuck in your car for hours and miss the best of the sunshine.
Lifeboat road car park, which is also now owned by National Trust is also filling up very quickly and will be full within the next hour. Don't forget, it's free to walk in so why not come on the train instead, Formby and Freshfield stations are both only a few minutes walk from the beach.
