Almost 30 bags of rubbish picked up on the Hightown Beach Clean
Hightown Beach Clean group organised by Tommy Norbury were out again on March 18th. They teamed up with Sea Shepherd UK.
Tommy said: "Well the weather was again not on our side with a few people understandably unable to attend due to weather conditions. We had decided the plan was ( No snow we will go ). It was freezing cold but that did not put off our amazing 52 volunteers from our plan to tackle the reed bed area whilst the reeds where accessible to clear it of lots of small plastic and litter pieces."
Tommy went on to say: "With 29.5 bags of rubbish, car wheels and wooden pallets removed, it was then time, thanks to our guardian angel, Jenny Longfellow for a break with hot drinks and biscuits at the newely acquired Alt Centre. Once a lot warmer the gang were back out to tackle the debris trapped in the reeds. A big thanks to all our volunteers and Sea Shepherd for their support, a great job done."
The next Hightown beach clean, again to tackle the reed beds is on Monday 9th April from 10am - 1pm. Please join them if you can.
