How To Live Well With Dementia Talk
Formby Dementia Action Group recently held a very informative talk about how to live well with dementia at the Formby Community Fire Station. The talk was well attended with local residents having the opportunity find out more about how the disease can affect people. It also provided really useful strategies for people both living with dementia and also for anyone helping and supporting them. Sally Nicol, from St Luke’s Church and also an Occupational Therapist, said
“there is so much more to a person living with dementia and these talks are designed to shed light on how we as a community can assist our loved ones”
In addition to providing information in a user-friendly format the Formby Dementia Action Group quarterly talks also provide local residents with guidance on how to access support groups and other information that can assist people.
Over 25 people attended this latest talk and the general feedback was that the event was really illuminating in the way it provides information about such a bewildering condition.
Formby Dementia Action Group’s next Dementia Awareness session is being held on 20th March between 7.00pm to 9.00pm at St Peter’s Bier House.
Before then, the Group is holding a reminiscence talk about Romantic Memories on Saturday 17th February 2018 between 11am and 1.00pm. The purpose of this event is to enable people to come and remember their courting days and weddings and have a sing-a-long with some of the old love songs.
