Formby Junior Sports Club Report
After weeks of no football at last Formby Junior Sports Club had a full programme of matches.
Inter Club was back again at Deansgate Lane last Saturday and despite a bitterly cold morning the children from four to fifteen years of age thoroughly enjoyed their matches. The club’s Representative Teams were also in league action at various times during the weekend after the long absence.
FJSC BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 15 Blacks maintained their lead at the top of the division with a very convincing win over Mitch FC. Man of the match Max Cowen-Carr scored four times as did Callum Richmond. Sam Kendrick added a brace and there was one goal each for Cameron Colbourne, Michael Hughes and Bryn Macy.
FJSC Under 14 Whites won 4 nil against third placed Northfield in the Bootle League. Carlos Swain- Velasco scored twice. Dan Griffin with a penalty and Oscar Thompson completed the scoring. Goalkeeper David Meadow made a number of excellent saves to keep a clean sheet. It was the team’s best performance of the season so far.
FJSC Under 14 Blacks suffered a heavy defeat as did FJSC Under 13 Blacks but there was a hard earned 2-1 victory gained by FJSC Under 13 Whites against Phoenix.
League leaders of the Championship Division FJSC Under 12 Whites kept up their one hundred per cent record with a 4 nil win over Southport Trinity Blacks. Luke Honour scored a double and there was also one goal apiece for man of the match Matteo Heaney and Rio Mason. In the same division FJSC Blacks narrowly lost 3-2 to Phoenix. Jacob Lewis and man of the match Anthony Webb were on target with one goal each. Henry Leason, Callum Williams and George Kenny all played well.
Also playing Phoenix were FJSC Under 10 Whites. In a very close match Josh Kenn and Lewis Parker scored. Christian Mather was voted man of the match.
FJSC Under 9 Whites played Crosby Stuart. Scoring for the Whites were Dilan Sathiyanathan and man of the match Joe Hughes. Luke Lewis and James Henson also made good contributions. FJSC Under 9 Blacks were in action against Town Green. In a pleasing team effort Liam Kirk and man of the match Finley Richards scored.
FJSC Under 8 Whites played away at Hesketh Colts. Scoring for the Whites were Rohan Maker, Jamie Jawook, Dominic Maxwell, Jacob Lynch, Dylan Madeley, Harrison McGrath, and George Dent. FJSC Blacks opponents were Hesketh Colts Red. The exciting match was played at a frantic pace. On target for the Blacks were Jack Finnegan and Zach Barton.
FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
The match of the weekend was the Liverpool County FA Under 16 Cup quarter-final match between FJSC and Tranmere Rovers Ladies.
In an outstanding team performance FJSC played some wonderful football to win 5-1. Nina Macy scored a stunning opening goal that was the springboard for further goals. Anna Rutherford then scored three very well taken goals. Charlotte Doyle with a precise finish completed the scoring. Freya Walsh from the Under 15 team played well in the team’s best technical display of the season so far. FJSC will now play Brazil Girls or Rainford Rockets in the semi- final.
Congratulations to all the girls of FJSC Valencia on winning their first league match of the season. Valencia went a goal down to Rainford Rangers early on but one goal each from Charlotte Hall and Sarah Allmark gave Valencia a 2-1 lead. Rainford drew level to set up a thrilling finish. Goalkeeper Isla Ryan made some crucial saves before captain Izzy Shaw scored to give Valencia the lead once again. Sarah Allmark added a fourth goal to secure a much deserved first-ever win. Charlotte Hall was girl of the game.
New team to the Hightown League Shevington played friendly matches against two FJSC teams. FJSC United Under 13’s won 5-3 with two goals each from Lauren Holden and Freya Thornton. Girl of the match Anna Klaassen also scored. Holly Partington also played well.
FJSC Under 12’s Real also playing Shevington ran out 5-1 winners with goals from Jasmin Stevens, Georgia Garforth, Jess Lynch, Ava Lewis and Ruby Houghton who was the girl of the game.
Despite a gallant effort by FJSC Under 13 Rangers the team lost to the older Dynamo Rangers Under 14’s. Goalkeeper Helena Davies made some brave saves.
FJSC Under 12 Albion made a good start in the cup competition by winning 4 nil against Newton. Aaliyah Turner and Yasmin Godsall scored two goals each.
FJSC Under 11 Hotspurs played Town Green. Captain for the day was Aimee Walsh. In a good team display Arianna Casson, Ellie Todino, Issy Conway and Paige Leather all scored.
FJSC Under 10 Atletico were in action against Remyca. Eva Meredith and Grace Gabriel tackled well in defence. Mae Phillips and Amber Fortune also worked tirelessly for the team.
FJSC Under 9 Division FJSC Tornado played FJSC Rockets. It was a great game. Scoring for Tornados were Sophia Barnes, Darci McGowan and Isabelle Parkinson. In reply Megan Hulse and Eva Beckett were on target with goals for Rockets.
INTER CLUB FOOTBALL
Over two hundred and fifty children attended the first Inter Club of 2018. Every age group went well and it was pleasing to see a number of new children attending for the first time.

FJSC was delighted to welcome Everton in the Community Coach Poppy Comer to Inter Club. Poppy soon had the Reception and Year One boys busy learning new ball skills before they went on to play matches in the second half of their hour session.
The Year Two boys, after a twenty-minute each way Inter Club match then had a training session with the new coach. Poppy went on to coach the Year Six girls and then completed a busy morning taking the Year Ten girls. This arrangement will continue for the rest of the season.
Every girl’s age group had a coaching session before playing their Inter Club matches at 11am. Girls are encouraged to take part in the coaching sessions which have been made available thanks to the volunteer and qualified coaches at FJSC.
