Charity Concert Raises Over £600 - Formby Based Music School

My name is Catherine Victoria Whitehall and i am the principal of Catherine Victoria Music and Voice Your Voice - Formby. I've recently moved to Formby from Southport, bringing a lot of my students with me and meeting lots of new students in the area since September 2017.

Why we chose the charity:

In December 2017 my partner, piano teacher Tom Kimmance and I put on our annual winter charity concert for Rays Of Sunshine Children's Charity which had helped my singing student Daniel (Aged 6) through his time spent fighting a brain tumour the size of an adult's fist which was discovered aged 3yrs. Daniel's neurosurgeon was able to completely reset the tumour and with the help and care of the Neurosurgical and Oncology team at Alder Hey (who we raised money for at a previous concert), he has made a full recovery.

Daniel's mum, Rosie Bell, suggested this years chosen charity, these are her words:

"Rays of Sunshine are such an important charity as they bring laughter, fun, and hope to children who have experienced so many hardships in their short lives. They understand just how special your child is, how special all these children are. They fill the world with magic and wonder for these brave, remarkable kids.

Rays are as important to the children as the doctors, nurses and heath care professionals who save their lives and keep them well. They make the world a better place."

On the night, we raised an incredible £601.29 and we would like to thank all our performers and their families for their support. (Daniel and his sister Layla who also has lessons are pictured with the presentation cheque). We had students singing and playing piano throughout the evening and my vocal group "Voice Your Voice" made their debut performance.
