Formby Junior Sports Club - FRANK'S REPORT - 30th Oct, 2017
Unfortunately very few Formby Junior Sports Club matches were played over the two half term weekends. This was due a combination of reasons namely bad weather and fixtures cancelled due to the holiday break.
However a handful of Representative FJSC matches went ahead each weekend.
FIRST HALF TERM WEEKEND MATCHES
FJSC Under 12 Whites played Southport Trinity Whites in the Craven Minor League Championship Division. League leaders FJSC played some excellent football against closest rivals Trinity and recorded an important 5 nil victory. Man of the match Ellis Parry scored a hat trick and Bailey Jones was also in fine form scoring twice. Jack Rummens and Ben Marsh defended well.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks were in action against Southport Trinity Blacks and won 2-1 in a close encounter courtesy of a last minute goal. Jacob Lewis opened the scoring for FJSC. Trinity drew level in the second half to set up a very exciting finish. A very accurately placed Jacob Lewis corner with only seconds remaining reached Alex Gunn who to the delight of his team scored with a first time shot. Man of the match was defender Callum Williams.
There was a heavy defeat for FJSC Under 13 Blacks and only one-goal margin losses for FJSC Under 14 Blacks and FJSC Under 18’s.
FJSC Under 13 Blacks with only nine available players tried their best but succumbed to Hesketh Colts Reds. Sonny Carroll scored from an excellently taken free kick and Gerard Broomfield was man of the match.
LAST WEEKEND’S RESULTS
The only Girls’ match played was the West Lancs Girls’ League local derby match between FJSC Under 16’s and Hesketh Colts. As always between these two teams the match ebbed and flowed. Sophie Dixon opened the scoring with a spectacular shot, which sailed into the top corner of the Hesketh Colts net. A second goal was needed to see FJSC gain a 2-1 win. It was a well- timed volley scored by Ellie Brewer.
Megan Houston and Hannah Fraser made some timely tackles in defence. Nina Macy’s many runs up and down the right flank combined with Freya Walsh’s hard work in midfield gave Hesketh Colts little time to dwell on the ball. Striker Anna Rutherford also created chances on the counter attack. It was a very good team performance.
FJSC Under 12 Whites made it seven wins from seven league matches played. Scoring the goals against Redgate Blacks were Luke Honour, Jack Rummens, Matteo Heaney, Rio Mason, Ben Marsh, Bobby Hersey, Steven Mordaunt and Bailey Jones. Man of the match for his hard work and notable teamwork was Luke Honour.
There was a very good match played between FJSC Under 11 Blacks and Redgate Green. Zach Beaumont-Jones and Calum McNally scored. Man of the match was Marcus Rogan.
FJSC Under 10 Whites also played against a Redgate Green team. In another thrilling match Lewis Parker, Jamie Simpson and Nathan Cousens were on target with goals. Man of the match was Lewis Parker. Nathan Cousens, Jake Stanton and Harry Hale all played well in a good team display.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks played very well against Phoenix Arrows. The Blacks goals were scored by Joe Finnegan and man of the match Isaac Bird.
Harry Nelson and Sebastian Wood scored for FJSC Under 7’s in the match with S. and B. Rangers. It was a spirited performance by the young team.
