Franks Report For Formby Junior Sports Club

FRANK'S REPORT - 09/10/2017 9 Oct, 2017

Formby Junior Sports Club’s four Under 12 Representative teams all won their matches last weekend.

For the first time ever FJSC Real defeated Crosby Stuart Youth. It was an exciting game from start to finish. Crosby Stuart scored twice in the first half but Real pulled a goal back when Ava Lewis scored with a super strike from distance just before the interval. Playing with great determination Real gained more and more possession. The relentless pressure on the Crosby goal eventually led to two more Real goals from Jess Lynch and Ava Lewis again to seal a 3-2 victory. Goalkeeper Rosie Johnson was outstanding and defender Evie Lovelady-Lang was very commanding in a first class FJSC Real team display.

Also in the Hightown Girls’ League, FJSC Albion won 5 nil against Bellefield Academy to stay top of the Under 12 Division. Aaliyah Turner and Brooke Denison both scored in the first half. Another Aaliyah Turner goal made the result safe and Yasmin Godsall scored two late goals. Lucy Rimmer came close to scoring again and Eva Sears was desperately unlucky not to be on the score sheet when three of her shots struck the Bellefield woodwork.

FJSC Under 12 Boys’ Whites are also league leaders in the Craven Minor Championship Division. Southport Trinity took an early lead before the Whites fought back to win 4-2. Matteo Heaney and Bailey Jones scored one goal each and two late goals from man of the match Luke Honour secured the hard fought victory.

The last in the quartet of Under 12 wins came from FJSC Blacks. The boys won 6-1 against Redgate Black. Alex Cropper was voted man of the match and scored a brace. The goal of the match was a headed goal by Anthony Webb who scored from a very accurate Harry Knowles corner. George Kenny, Harry Knowles and Thomas Walker also scored one goal each in another very good team performance.

FJSC Under 13 United for the first time this season played against a team in their same age group. United and FJSC Rangers play in an Under 13/14 Division. United played very well against their opponents Rainford Rangers and won 8-2 with Lauren Holden scoring a hat trick. Erin Denison and Freya Thornton scored two goals each and Hannah Allmark was also on target with one goal.

FJSC Under 15’s lost 4-0 to Ashton Athletic. The Under 15’s played better in the second half after trailing 3 nil. Player of the match for her tireless work rate in midfield was Molly Graham. Ella Lawson and Erin Smith played well and Demi Lewis nearly scored.

FJSC Under 11 Hotspurs continued their impressive form against Town Green. Team captain for the day Paige Leather opened the scoring. During the match there were further goals from Izzy Conway, Arianna Casson, Chloe Price and Sarah Allmark. Joint players of the match were Iris Davidson and Izzy Conway.

FJSC Under 10 Atletico, a much-changed team this season with six new players and a new management team have worked very hard this season. Their efforts were rewarded in their latest match with a first three points of the season. Scoring the goals were Kiera O’Rourke, Mae Phillips and Ellie Greenwood. The whole squad played very well.

FJSC Under 9 Rockets played FJSC Under 9 Tornados. It was a great match and all the girls played very well in a very exciting end-to-end match. The two goalkeepers – Harriet Tunley and Holly Foster made some very good saves. Scoring the goals in the match were Jess Duncan, Maisie McDowell, Megan Hulse and Hannah Jones.

FJSC Under 15 Blacks won 4-2 in an exciting cup-tie with Skem North. Tom Harrison equalised for FJSC before Cameron Sergison gave FJSC the lead. Skem North levelled the score at 2-2 but two more goals in the final five minutes from man of the match Cameron Sergison, to complete a fine hat trick, secured a place in the next round.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks won 9-2 at Formby Athletic. All three goals conceded by FJSC under 13 Blacks came from corners. Man of the match Sam Cousens pulled a goal back but the Blacks lost 3-1 to Churchtown.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks played Holy Rosary Corinthians. Man of the match was Reuben Dowling. Dylan Riley, Dominic Hamilton, Marcus Rogan and Jonathan Shaw all tried hard.

In another difficult match against strong opposition FJSC Under 10 Blacks showed great determination against Town Green. Goalkeeper Bowie Mavers made some brave saves. Oscar Fletcher scored again and man of the match was Joe Finnegan. FJSC Under 10 Whites played Redgate Black in a very closely contested encounter from start to finish. Corey Ashworth scored from the penalty spot.

Dilan Sathiyanathan scored for FJSC Under 9 Whites in the fixture with Town Green. Charlie Nuttie was man of the match. FJSC Under 9 Blacks had an enthralling match with Southport FC. Man of the match Liam Kirk, Finley Richards, Dan Mortimer, and Thomas Dent all scored.

There was another very good attendance in the Inter Club Section. Every age group is now settling down to a routine that is ensuring that the busy morning’s schedule of matches and coaching opportunities runs smoothly.

The FJSC mascots were – Freya Thornton, Neve Thornton, Kate Jones, Jasmin Stevens, Emily Ball, Ellie Todino, Evie Lovelady-Lang, Lilly Lovelady-Lang, Sian Sturdy, Alannah Beaumont-Jones, Sara Briscoe and Demi Lewis.

After the match the girls met and talked to many of the stars of the two teams including Everton’s Gabby George and Simone Magill and Manchester City and England Lionesses captain Steph Houghton and goalkeeper Karen Bardsley. The girls also met England Interim Coach Mo Marley. FJSC would like to take this opportunity to thank our sister Everton for inviting the girls to the match as mascots and for making the whole experience so enjoyable.
