Franks Report For Formby Junior Sports Club

FRANK'S REPORT - 09/10/2017 9 Oct, 2017

Formby Junior Sports Club’s four Under 12 Representative teams all won their matches last weekend.

For the first time ever FJSC Real defeated Crosby Stuart Youth. It was an exciting game from start to finish. Crosby Stuart scored twice in the first half but Real pulled a goal back when Ava Lewis scored with a super strike from distance just before the interval. Playing with great determination Real gained more and more possession. The relentless pressure on the Crosby goal eventually led to two more Real goals from Jess Lynch and Ava Lewis again to seal a 3-2 victory. Goalkeeper Rosie Johnson was outstanding and defender Evie Lovelady-Lang was very commanding in a first class FJSC Real team display.

Also in the Hightown Girls’ League, FJSC Albion won 5 nil against Bellefield Academy to stay top of the Under 12 Division. Aaliyah Turner and Brooke Denison both scored in the first half. Another Aaliyah Turner goal made the result safe and Yasmin Godsall scored two late goals. Lucy Rimmer came close to scoring again and Eva Sears was desperately unlucky not to be on the score sheet when three of her shots struck the Bellefield woodwork.

FJSC Under 12 Boys’ Whites are also league leaders in the Craven Minor Championship Division. Southport Trinity took an early lead before the Whites fought back to win 4-2. Matteo Heaney and Bailey Jones scored one goal each and two late goals from man of the match Luke Honour secured the hard fought victory.

The last in the quartet of Under 12 wins came from FJSC Blacks. The boys won 6-1 against Redgate Black. Alex Cropper was voted man of the match and scored a brace. The goal of the match was a headed goal by Anthony Webb who scored from a very accurate Harry Knowles corner. George Kenny, Harry Knowles and Thomas Walker also scored one goal each in another very good team performance.

FJSC GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

FJSC Under 13 United for the first time this season played against a team in their same age group. United and FJSC Rangers play in an Under 13/14 Division. Erin Denison and Freya Thornton scored two goals each and Hannah Allmark was also on target with one goal.

FJSC Under 10 Atletico, a much-changed team this season with six new players and a new management team have worked very hard this season. Twelve very lucky girls were mascots at last weekend’s fantastic Women’s Super League Division One match between Everton Ladies and Manchester City Women. The FJSC mascots were – Freya Thornton, Neve Thornton, Kate Jones, Jasmin Stevens, Emily Ball, Ellie Todino, Evie Lovelady-Lang, Lilly Lovelady-Lang, Sian Sturdy, Alannah Beaumont-Jones, Sara Briscoe and Demi Lewis.

After the match the girls met and talked to many of the stars of the two teams including Everton’s Gabby George and Simone Magill and Manchester City and England Lionesses captain Steph Houghton and goalkeeper Karen Bardsley. The girls also met England Interim Coach Mo Marley. FJSC would like to take this opportunity to thank our sister Everton for inviting the girls to the match as mascots and for making the whole experience so enjoyable.
