Year 8 Range High Pupils Travel Back in Time to Speke Hall
It was a beautiful sunny day for thirty-five Year 8 pupils to visit the atmospheric Tudor mansion, Speke Hall. Their aim was to discover more about life in Tudor times, especially for the Catholic Norris family who built the house. They were able to imagine wealth that led to such an extravagant house, the enormous task of the servants in running such a residence, and the fear that led to the creation of features such as the priest hole and eavesdrop. Pupils took part in activities to help bring Tudor times to life including taking part in a traditional dance, dressing up in Tudor clothes and making orange pomander balls, which were used to scent Tudor homes.
