FHS remembers pupil Kevin Williams who lost his life at Hillsborough
Each year, around the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, the school holds a penalty shoot-out in memory of Kevin Williams, a former student of FHS who sadly lost his life at the Hillsborough tragedy.
Kevin loved football and there is no better way to ensure he is remembered by students of his school, past, present and future than through a fun football event.
The competition sees the Year 11 footballers take on the formidable staff strikers in a ‘nail-biting’ penalty shoot-out, supported by the whole school community. The event took place at lunch time today with the staff winning by 13-10.
Every year at the event, a collection of loose change is completed with funds going towards the charity founded by Kevin’s mother, Anne, who fought hard to bring justice for Kevin and all the 96 before losing a long battle with cancer in 2013. The total collection fund now stands at £331 which will be used to update and improve Kevin’s memorial garden near the entrance of the school reception.
