Franks Report

Formby Junior Sports Club Under 14 Blacks have completed the League and Cup double.

Last week at Burscough FC, the FJSC team played in the Anita Shaw Cup Final against Phoenix. After a very even start to the match FJSC’s Lewis Constable broke the deadlock after twenty minutes. Three more quick goals before half time gave the Blacks’ a commanding lead with Michael Hughes scoring a brace and Max Cowen-Carr also on target. Callum Richmond added two more goals in the second half and Lewis Constable increased his goals tally to four. Phoenix scored a much deserved consolation goal.

Already Championship Division winners the FJSC Under 14 Blacks rounded off a memorable season in grand style with this cup victory to complete the double.

It was also great news from the Girls’ Section with FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs winning the Hightown Spring League. Four short matches were played to complete the league fixtures. Three wins and a draw against Town Green, Litherland Remyca, Oxton Ladies and Dynamo Rangers proved to be just enough to see FJSC Hotspurs gain sufficient points to become Under 10 League Champions. Scoring goals in the matches were Ellie Todino, Chloe Price, Bo Price, Isabelle Conway and Paige Leather. In the four matches played Hotspurs did not concede a goal due to the very good defending of Lauren Boardman, Aimee Walsh, Lottie Atherton and Neve Thornton.

FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs have also made it a double success because earlier in the season the very talented squad also won the Autumn League.

GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

It was a busy day for the rest of FJSC’s teams in the Hightown League as matches were played in round robin style to complete league programmes.

FJSC Under 13 Jets drew 1-1 with Dynamo Rangers. Rangers took the lead but the Jets came back strongly and had a number of near misses before Dot Russell–Gajos coolly equalised from a penalty. In an earlier match the Jets lost to Remyca.

FJSC Under 12 Rangers drew with Remyca and FJSC Albion, and narrowly lost 1 nil to both FJSC United and Crosby Stuart. Lily Hall scored in the very evenly contested match with Albion.

FJSC Under 11 Albion played four matches. Yasmin Godsall scored the only goal of the match against FJSC United. Brooke Denison equalised in the 1-1 draw with FJSC Rangers. There were goalless draws against Crosby Stuart and Remyca. Albion went close to winning these two matches with efforts from Aalijah Turner and Eva Sears. Albion finished the series of matches undefeated.

FJSC Under 11 Real completed their remaining four fixtures to finish a very creditable third in the Championship League. FJSC won 3 nil against Rainford Rangers and gained well-earned draws with Crosby Stuart and S. and B. Rangers. Georgia Garforth scored twice and Jess Lynch and Ruby Houghton were also scorers in the matches played.

FJSC Under 8 Tornados saved their best performance of the season to the last match against Ormskirk. All the members of the squad played well and their efforts were rewarded with goals scored by Jessica Duncan, Maria Byrne, Isabelle Parkinson and Maisie McDowell.

A depleted FJSC Under 8 Rockets produced a determined display against a strong Remyca team. A number of shots by the Rockets were well saved by a very good Remyca goalkeeper.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

League Champions FJSC Under 13 Blacks, with the pressure off, played their last match of the season against Southport Trinity Blue. The Blacks played well and won 5 nil with Bill Steel scoring twice and one goal each from Dylan Sudlow, Tait Sheridan and Rory Oakes. The Blacks league match statistics is very impressive. The team played fifteen matches, won fourteen, drew one and remained undefeated.

FJSC Under 13 Whites won 8 nil against Dynamo Burscough and remain in second position in the Premier Division. FJSC Under 15’s lost 4-3 to Southport but still hold on to second place in an exciting run-in. Recently FJSC Under 12 Whites won 3 nil against Phoenix Arrows but lost 3-2 to second in the Championship Division Ormskirk. FJSC Under 18 Whites drew 2-2 with Birkdale and played very well but lost 4-2 to runaway leaders Churchtown Athletic. FJSC Under 18 Whites are now in third position.

FJSC Under 11 Whites gave a good account of themselves in the match against Southport Trinity. Bobby Hersey scored from a penalty. Luke Honour was voted player of the match for a very good all round performance. Jack Rummens and Matteo Heaney also deserve special mention for their efforts.

Dominic Hamilton, Oliver Mercer, Dylan Riley, Sam Mycek and man of the match Reuben Dowling, who scored a hat trick, were all scorers in a good team display by FJSC Under 10 Blacks in the match with Southport Trinity Blue.

FJSC Under 9’s played Churchtown Tigers. The Under 9’s played well. Lewis Parker came close to scoring. Tigers scored goals at crucial times of the match despite the Under 9’s efforts. Man of the match goalkeeper Charlie Lynch made a string of outstanding saves.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks enjoyed taking part in the final stages of the Craven Minor League Tournament held at Edge Hill University. The team acquited themselves very well and completed their matches finishing in mid table.
