Amadeus Chamber Choir raised over £3,000 for Marys Meals
Amadeus Chamber Choir gave a performance of Handel’s Messiah on Saturday night 18th March, led by Formby based choir master and music teacher David Holroyd.
The choir was accompanied by a scratch chamber orchestra and featured soloists Rosanna Harris, Joyce Tindsley, Philip Clieve and local baritone, Stuart O’Hara.
An appreciative audience of 200 people gathered in the atmospheric and intimate surroundings of Holy Family Church in Ince Blundell to enjoy a production which belied the choir's amateur status. Flawless performances by the soloists were capped off by a do-or-die Hallelujah Chorus, and the evening culminated in a stirring rendition of the Amen Chorus.
The audience showed its appreciation of a fine evening's entertainment with a richly deserved standing ovation and generous donations to a retiring collection, which when added to ticket sales, raised over £3,000 for the charity www.marysmeals.org.uk
The choir is already in the advanced stages of preparation for forthcoming concerts at Meols Hall in Churchtown in May, in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and at St George's Hall, Liverpool in June.
