Formby Junior Sports Club weekly report

FRANK'S REPORT 8th February, 2017 Three of Formby Junior Sports Club’s top of the league teams maintained their pole positions at the weekend. TOP THREE RESULTS FJSC Under 13 Blacks gained a comfortable win over Formby Athletic and had seven different scorers. The marksmen were Bill Steel with a double hat trick, Tait Sheridan, Ewan Walsh, Carlos Swain-Velasco, Rory Oakes, Jacob Williams- Tranter and Will Neave. Man of the match, for a fantastic midfield display, was George Pendleton. The Blacks now lead the Championship Division by five points.

FJSC Under 14 United played one of their nearest rivals Churchtown Athletic in the Premier Division. After a goalless first half United edged the match after the interval to win 3-2. Man of the match Gerard Casterton opened the scoring for United. Sean Jones doubled United’s lead soon after. Churchtown pulled a goal back. Good work from Ben Rich and Fintan Meehan resulted in a third goal for the FJSC team. A last minute second Churchtown goal came too late and United gained another three well-deserved points and a lead at the top of the division of nine points

In the West Lancs Girls’ League FJSC Under 15’s won 2 nil away at second placed Hesketh Colts. Goals from Anna Rutherford and Sophie Dixon helped the girls increase their lead at the top to eight points. Megan Houston played well.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

Unfortunately after a wonderful run of victories FJSC Under 14 Blacks lost 3 nil to Southport Trinity. This result sets up a tense end of season for FJSC and Trinity, with the two teams having played each other twice, and now with the same number of points from the same number of matches played. Goalkeeper Will Hall made a number of excellent saves and for a tireless effort Max Cowen- Carr was man of the match.

FJSC’s fifth team to hold top of the league status at the moment are FJSC Under 15 boys’. The team had no weekend fixture league but still maintain a two- point lead in the Under 15 Division.

The two FJSC Under 12 boys’ teams lost. The Blacks produced a disappointing display and lost 5-2 to Phoenix Aces. Dan King scored the Blacks goals. Substitute Michael Rushton played well. FJSC Under 12 Whites lost 4-3 to Hesketh Colts Blue.

FJSC Under 13 Whites won 6-1 at Burscough Dynamo White and stay in the title race. FJSC Under 18 Blacks won 4-1 against Birkdale whilst in the same division FJSC Under 18’s lost 6-2 to leaders Seahorses.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks played well against unbeaten Southport FC. There were excellent displays from Callum Williams, Henry Leason, Harry Knowles and Anthony Webb. Man of the match was goalkeeper Taylor Twentyman.

Oliver Mercer, Sam Mycek, Jack Yarwood, Dominic Hamilton and man of the match Reuben Dowling all scored for FJSC Under 10 Blacks in the fixture with Southport Trinity Blue. The whole team played well.

FJSC Under 9’s played Southport Trinity White. It proved to be very close as the two teams played excellent football. Corey Ashworth and Jamie Simpson were among the scorers. A Gabe Bellemey corner led to another goal. Man of the match was Corey Ashworth.

Lucas Rawlins, Finn Bauerand Gabriel Duckworth were all on the scoresheet for FJSC Under 8 Rangers in the match with Hesketh Colts. Rangers continue to improve.

FJSC Under 8 Whites played FJSC Under 8 Blacks. The two teams were a credit to the club. Luke Lewis and Ivan Weights scored for the Whites and Alfie Griffiths excelled in defence. All three goalkeepers – one in each half for the Blacks –Dan Mortimer and Harry Lofthouse plus the Whites keeper Charlie Lynch all made some exceptional saves.

FJSC Under 7 Blacks took part in the Craven Minor League Tournament and played very well, winning all their group matches. The team now progress to the finals on March 5th. GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

FJSC Under 17’s lost 4-2 to Preston North End. Macy Keam and Molly Barton scored and a 2-2 a draw would have been a great result. Unfortunately FJSC’s depleted squad had no substitutes to bring on as the team began to tire after a very good effort. Preston with a number of substitutes then scored two late goals to win and to remain in second position. FJSC are joint third. Player of the match was Sally Laughton.

FJSC Under 13’s lost 4-2 against Maghull Blue. It was another much better team display. Dot Russell-Gajos and Simone Jones scored. Anna Johnson and Karen Lane played particularly well.

FJSC Under 12 Rangers won 4-3 against Crosby Stuart. Erin Denison scored a sensational hat trick and Lily Hall continued her regular scoring with another goal. Alex Worrell-Murphy was very hardworking in midfield and goalkeeper Helena Davies made a wonder save, which proved to be a pivotal moment.

FJSC Under 12 United played FJSC Under 11 Albion. There was nothing between the teams until United’s Freya Thornton scored the only goal of the match midway through the second half. Albion nearly equalised late on when a Yasmin Godsall shot struck the United woodwork. Joint players of the match for United were Bella Plows and Evie Stanbrook. Albion’s girls of the match were Ella Stainton and Eva Sears. All the girls from two teams are to be congratulated on a great effort.

Jess Lynch and Ava Lewis scored for FJSC Under 11 Real. It was a very pleasing performance by Real. Zoe Sixsmith produced a faultless display in defence.

FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs played Litherland Remyca. There were many near misses. A Sarah Allmark shot hit the post. Bo Price and Chloe Price played well in a much better team performance.

The two FJSC Under 8 teams were also in action. Tornado played Ormskirk. Scoring in the match were Maria Byrne, Jessica Dunne and Isabelle Moore. Girl of the game was Holly Foster. Lucy Duncan also played well.
