A Soldier’s Story At Formby Library
The first in the series of monthly talks at Formby Library for 2017, is titled “From Arcadia to Ypres and Gallipoli: A Soldier’s Story in Letters and Poems by Ann Crowther”.
Ann Oakes (aka local writer Ann Crowther) narrates the story of her grandfather’s experiences with the Worcestershire Regiment, first in the original attempt to free Ypres, and then in Gallipoli, where he was fatally wounded.
Much of the account is told through Charles Crowther’s letters home and through several of Ann’s recently published poems inspired by them.
The reader is poet and writer Ian Bradley Marshall, who worked closely with Ann in editing her recent novel.
The talk starts at 2pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 and places are free, however booking is essential. To secure a place, please phone Formby Library on 01704 874177 or email Formby.Library@sefton.gov.uk.
