Formby Junior Sports Club Weekly Report

Formby Junior Sports Club - FRANK'S REPORT 5th Dec, 2016

It was a successful weekend for four of Formby Junior Sports Club’s Representative teams in the cup competitions.

FJSC Under 15 Boys’ won 2-1 against Crosby Stuart in the semi-final of the Craven Minor League’s Karen Potter Cup. It was a very close match which the Under 15’s edged with goals from Patrick Dutton and Owen Highton. Captain Conor Dewhurst and Patrick Dutton were joint players of the match. The Under 15’s will play Brick Juniors in the final later in the season.

The Under 15 Girls’ also won through to the West Lancs Girls’ League cup final after winning 3-1 in a thrilling semi-final away at Hesketh Colts. FJSC created a lot of chances in the first half but Hesketh on the brink of half time took the lead.

In the second half with Ellie Brewer and Nina Macy passing the ball superbly in midfield, FJSC began to regain control. Megan Houston was very composed in defence to thwart the Hesketh Colts forwards. Patience paid off with Anna Rutherford equalising for FJSC. Spurred on by the goal the Under 15’s soon took the lead when Anna Rutherford scored again. To make sure of a very hard earned victory FJSC scored a third goal when Anna Rutherford completed a brilliant hat trick which included a headed goal. FJSC will play Euxton Girls in the final.

FJSC’s two Under 11 Boys’ teams played in the Quarter Final stage of the Trisconi Cup. The Blacks played Phoenix Arrows and won 7-5 in an end to end on the edge of your seat cup-tie. Jacob Lewis scored a hat trick, Tom Rimmer added a brace and there was also one goal each from Anthony Webb and Alex Gunn. Man of the match was Harry Knowles.

The Under 11 Whites won 7-2 away at Hesketh Colts Blue with goals from Steven Mordaunt, Luke Honour, Bobby Hersey and Ellis Parry. Man of the match was Matteo Heaney. In the semi-final the Whites will play Ormskirk and in the other pairing the Blacks opponents are Southport Trinity White.

BOYS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

Another age group double success was in the Under 14 boys’ age group. FJSC United maintained their six points lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 9 nil win against Ormskirk. Matthew Williams scored three, Sean Jones and Gerard Casterton added two goals apiece and Joe McElhinney and Oliver Shaw were also on the scoresheet with one goal each.

In the Championship Division FJSC Under 14 Blacks defeated Phoenix 5-2 to stay joint top. Lewis Constable scored a hat trick and Bryn Macy and man of the match Sam Kendrick were also scorers. The two Under 14 teams remain unbeaten in league matches so far this season.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks lost 3-2 at Burscough Dynamo White. Goals from Tait Sheridan and Ewan Walsh set up a grandstand finish but the Blacks could not breach the Burscough defence again in the last twenty minutes to draw level. Man of the match was striker Tony Burke.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks gained a 6 nil win over Redgate Rovers Green. Dan Green scored twice and there was one goal each for Kyle Phillips, Tobias Firth-Griffiths, James Wilson and man of the match Luke Phillips.

FJSC Under 13 Whites, FJSC Under 18 Black and FJSC Under 18’s all lost their Saturday matches.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks continue to show a big improvement and played very well at Burscough. Sam Mycek and Dylan Riley scored and Tye O’nchorage, Jack Yarwood and Dominic Hamilton all came close as their shots all hit the Burscough woodwork. Man of the match was Nathan Cousens for his tireless work rate.

FJSC Under 9’s are another team in very good form. Jamie Simpson, Jake Stanton, Lewis Parker and Ben Murphy all scored in a good team display against Phoenix Avengers. Man of the match for a commanding midfield display was Jamie Simpson. The Phoenix goalkeeper made a string of very good saves.

FJSC Under 8 Whites played FJSC Under 8 Rangers. The Whites scorers were Connor Daulby, Ivan Weights and Finlay Hunter. Rangers came back strongly in the second half but the Whites goalkeeper Charlie Nuttie made some good saves to deny Rangers a goal.

Jamie Jawook, Dylan Madeley and Dominic Maxwell all scored in a good team performance by FJSC Under 7 Whites in the fixture with Burscough Yellow. Man of the match was Jamie Jawook.

GIRLS’ REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 12 Rangers played Remyca Under 12’s in a friendly match. Alex Murphy- Worrell gave Rangers the lead with a great goal following excellent approach play by Erin Denison and Lily Hall. Chloe Siliprandi was outstanding in midfield and Beth Brewer played with confidence in defence. Just before half time unbeaten Remyca drew level and gained control in the second half and went on to win 4-1. It was a very good performance by a Rangers team improving with every outing.

Brooke Denison and player of the match Eva Sears both played very well and scored for FJSC Under 11’s Albion in the friendly match against Crosby Stuart.

FJSC Under 12 United played FJSC Under 11 Real in a league encounter. Player of the game Freya Thornton, Madelaine Houghton, Yasmin Jones and Lauren Holden were all scorers for United. Jess Lynch and Georgia Garforth both showed great resilience and kept up a one hundred per cent effort for the younger Real team.

In another league match FJSC Under 10 Hotspurs played FJSC Under 9 Atletico. The Under 9’s fought for every ball but Hotspurs proved to be the stronger team with captain for the day Arianna Casson, Paige Leather, Bo Price, Ellie Todino, Aimee Walsh and Chloe Price all scoring.

Megan Hulse, Harriet Tunley, Evie Balshaw, Isabella Moore and Holly Foster all scored in the match between FJSC Under 8 Rockets and Bold Rangers.

INTER CLUB FOOTBALL

Numbers were slightly lower than usual due to pre Christmas activities in some age groups. However two hundred and thirty-five children were still in attendance. All the matches scheduled were played. As always there was plenty of excitement and goals galore.

There are two more Inter Club Saturdays on December 10th and 17th, weather permitting, so hopefully there will be good attendances before the Christmas and New Year holiday break.
