It has just been announced by DC Comics that ex-Formby High pupil Chris Wildgoose is the new artist for the 'Batgirl' series of comics.
DC Comics is one of the largest, oldest, and most successful companies operating in American comic books and produces material featuring numerous well-known heroic characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and many more. DC Comics is an American comic book publisher. It is the publishing unit of DC Entertainment, which is a subsidiary of Warner Bros.
Chris is an ex-Formby High School pupil who now lives in Knebworth Herts. and is currently the main artist for the successful and highly regarded Improper Books who publish Gothic style stories and artwork. Chris's work has been lauded here in the UK as well as the US, Spain and France. He is currently on a book signing tour in France for the next week or so for the work he has done for the 'Porcelain' series of books that has been taken on board by a major French publisher.
Chris has also recently been employed by his brother Tim as a weapons designer for the new Assassins Creed movie. Tim is also an ex-Formby High pupil who works as a successful head of department Weapons Master in the film industry, working on the new Transformers, Assassins Creed and King Arthur films, as well as Edge of Tomorrow, Hercules, Wrath and Clash of the Titans and many other action type films. Nice to keep it in the family.
Chris is really excited about his new role with DC. He said: "I'm super excited, nervous and honoured to be on board. If DC had come to me offering art duties on any choice of character, Batgirl would have been number one or joint number one with Gotham Academy. I've already had little bits to do with Gotham Academy so I'm feeling lucky and spoilt!
Chris has worked on bits of design and cover artwork for Batgirl previously but, started actual interior pages as of last week. Here are the two first pieces of official Batgirl art that he has done so far!
Well done Chris! Keep us all updated in Formby and good luck for your future which is obviously colourful!
