Over 40 years trading in Formby - Hairline is a proven success

Back in 1973, Formby was a very different place for a business but, when Liz and Ann who were friends decided to buy the salon, everyone thought they were mad! The Miners Strike was on and you were only allowed to use electricity three days a week.

Against all advice, Liz who was just 22 years old and Ann who was 24, went ahead anyway and Hairline was born. Liz and Ann made a great success of their new Formby Hair Salon and are still working together some 43 years later.

Over the years, they have built up their team. Jane who started as an apprentice when she was 18, left for a few years and when she returned everyone was thrilled. Margaret who came to stand in when Ann had an accident and is still there after 20 years! Jacqui, Shannon and Mylee are the newest members of the team. Everyone is good friends and all work well together.

The salon now looks better than ever after recently having a refurb to give that homely, welcoming embrace to all their clients.

Hairline cover all age groups from small children and boast three generations with lots of children who have grown up and bought their own children, which is so lovely. They welcome all clients, old and new. It’s a truly friendly salon where they all have a good laugh. People start as clients and become friends.

They have a large range of skills between them, cutting, styling and colouring and are experts in long hair up styles, plaits and braids.

Treatments available: hair loss treatments, hair repair treatments.

They use SILAFLEX by Montibello, a specialised treatment for use in conjunction with colour treatments, perms, especially porous and over processed hair. The treatment reinforces and restores the integrity of the hair and bonds. They have had fantastic results with their clients. They also nioxin which is a treatment for thinning hair and hair loss.
