Filming of the new Agatha Christie thriller in Formby today

The film crews landed in Formby this morning at Lifeboat Road to film the new Agatha Christie drama which is a BBC production staring Liverpool-born Kim Cattrall and Toby Jones.

The film is directed by Julian Jarrold and is set in 1920s London. It follows the brutal murder of glamorous Emily French, played by Cattrall. All evidence points to Leonard Vole (played by Billy Howle), who has been left the heiress’s enormous fortune.

The Agatha Christie two part special is set at the end of World War One and today the film crew made a normal farmers field across the Moss, look like a scene from the war. They made trenches and tunnels with explosions and smoke.

Actress, Andrea Riseborough was filmed walking across the trenches with smoke everywhere and body parts laying on the ground.

The film crew then made their way over to Lifeboat Road beach in Formby to continue the filming where they were still filming at 9pm tonight.

They have also been filming in Liverpool City centre the last few days.

Last Christmas, the BBC’s adaptation of Christies’s 'And Then There Were None', was a huge hit, with ratings of more than eight million.
