Pensioners home robbed and ransacked in Formby
A burglar broke into a pensioners home in Formby. A woman in her 80's was asleep in a chair when the burglar struck and stole money that was right beside her and then ransacked her home.
Detectives in Sefton are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in Formby last week. Sometime between 10pm on Wednesday, 10 August, and 5am on Thursday, 11 August, a man entered the house on Chindit Close, Formby, through an insecure property. The offender made an untidy search downstairs and stole two purses, containing cash, from a handbag. One of the purses is described as brown plastic.
Detective Sergeant Jason Ennis from Sefton CID Burglary team said: “This is a despicable crime and I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been for this woman. Everyone should be able to feel safe in their own home and I want to reassure residents that incidents like this are extremely rare.
“I would like to remind people to keep their homes secure. There can be a temptation during the summer months to leave doors and windows open or unlocked as the weather gets warmer but, please remember to be vigilant. Burglars are opportunists so please don’t make it easy for them.
