Formby High School A Level Success 2016

Thursday morning provided much excitement for students and staff at Formby High School as, once again, excellent results have been achieved at A Level and in BTEC courses.

Well over 50% of A Level results were graded A*-B and more than 90% of BTEC entries were awarded distinction or above. Of the 98 students in Year 13, 10 achieved all A*/A grades and the school is delighted with an increase in the proportion of students attaining prestigious A* grades.

Pleasingly too, nearly 80% of students who completed the Extended Project Qualification, which requires them to complete an independent research project, gained A*-B grades.

It is no surprise, then, that the overwhelming majority of students have successfully gained places on their preferred courses at university and for those who have chosen not to pursue the higher education route, they leave well equipped to follow their chosen pathway.

Headteacher, Dominic Mackenzie, said “The commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of the students have paid dividends with these excellent results. They don’t happen by chance and are a culmination of two year’s hard work and determination. Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students on their well-deserved results and best wishes for the future.”

I would also like to offer the Governors’ thanks to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the students so thoroughly for their examinations and to the parents for their partnership and support throughout their child’s education at FHS.”
