Kitchen fire at house in Hightown causes severe damage

Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at a house in Hightown at 6.23pm on Thursday, July 14. Two fire engines attended the incident on Thornbeck Avenue. Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze. They then dampened down and ventilated the area before carrying out a Home Fire Safety Check. An oven, a worktop, a tiled area, a freezer and a socket were all severely damaged by fire. The kitchen was damaged by smoke. Firefighters remained at the scene for around 40 minutes.
