Formby care assistant wins dream Las Vegas holiday worth £7,000

Dawn Ashcroft will be enjoying the high life after winning a Betfred competition to stay at one of the most famous hotels in the world.

The care home assistant is from Watchyard Lane in Formby. She is off to the luxurious Bellagio in Las Vegas flying in style with her fiancé Alan Bennet on first class flights from Manchester to Nevada, before arriving in a limo and checking into the £550 a night penthouse suite. The trip costs £5,000 and Dawn and Alan have been given an added bonus of £2,000 spending money.

The Bellagio is THE place to stay on the strip attracting a who’s who of American screen and stage and Dawn can’t wait to join them.

She said: “I screamed when I found out I had won the trip for two – and it wasn’t some kind of wind-up. I have never won anything in my life!”

Dawn, aged 36, from Formby works at the nearby Ashcroft House care home where the old folk and staff have been quick to congratulate her on winning the trip of a lifetime worth a total of £7,000.

She went on: “I have never had so many hugs in my life. Alan has been telling people in the store where he works and people at the home know about our luck. Vegas is somewhere everyone wants to go sometime in their life – and we’re going in June. I still can’t believe it.

“I was putting a bet on the Grand National and it popped up on my screen about winning a trip to Las Vegas so, I entered. It was just before the Grand National started in which I had five horses and none of them won!"

Dawn went on to say: “I didn’t think any more about it and then I got a phone call from Betfred saying I had won the Vegas trip. I really did think someone was playing a trick on me and so did Alan when I told him we’d won out of 3,000 entries. I have never won the lottery, the Grand National or anything really but, this is just fantastic, we’re over the moon.”

While enjoying the life of high rollers in the world’s gambling capital, Dawn and Alan are hoping to take in at least one show with Britney Spears live on stage in Britney: Piece of Me their top choice.
