FRANK'S REPORT 14/12/15 - 14 Dec, 2015
Torrential rain caused virtually the entire Saturday and Sunday programme of Formby Junior Sports Club matches to be cancelled yet again.

The only two games played took place in the Hightown Girls’ League on Sunday morning. In the Under 12 Division two of FJSC’s teams United and Rangers played each other. The match produced just one goal scored by United’s Freya Thornton. Considering the conditions, all the girls of both FJSC teams played exceptionally well. FJSC Hotspurs played Town Green. It proved to be a day to remember for Lauren Boardman. Not only was she captain for the day but Lauren also scored her first goal for her team. In a very good team display Grace Rooney and Sarah Allmark were also scorers as Hotspurs produced an encouraging confidence boosting result. Inter Club football will resume again on Saturday January 9th as there will now be a Christmas and New Year break with so many families away or busy over the holiday period. There are a few Representative matches scheduled for next weekend. Managers will be in contact with arrangements for those teams still in action. CLUB NEWS Formby Junior Sports Club Girls’ were presented with an unexpected award at last Friday evening’s Everton Ladies FC End of Season Presentation Evening at Goodison Park. Henry Mooney from Everton in the Community presented the Everton Affiliated Club Award to FJSC. Tina Hamilton (FJSC Girls’ Representative Teams’ Secretary) received the award on behalf of the club. Everton Ladies Team Manager Andy Spence spoke very highly of Formby Junior Sports Club. He mentioned how the Everton team appreciated the wonderful support at home matches of the FJSC girls. Andy went on to say how noticeable it was that the FJSC contingent at games had swelled during the season. He also remarked how much noise the girls made at the matches with their vuvuzelas which helped encourage the Everton team to even greater efforts. Andy also thanked Tina for organising the school tournaments and said how very important grassroots clubs are in helping to introduce football to so many girls. He was also delighted to hear that two of the FJSC girls were presently training at the Everton School of Excellence as well as playing for FJSC. This final achievement of the year rounds off a fantastic twelve months for Girls’ Football at FJSC. At the beginning of the year we were asked to become Everton’s first junior affiliated club. FJSC was delighted to accept and the Everton Ladies player to come along to Deansgate Lane to meet the club’s hundred girls was Simone Magill. Very fittingly the Everton Player of the Season Award went to Simone. Later in the year the Inter Club Section had a visit from former club member and now Everton Ladies player Jess King much to the delight of all the girls. On many occasions during the year many of our girls have been mascots at Everton home matches so you can see FJSC’s association and close links with Everton are very good. Together with FJSC’s Inter Club football for girls from four to fourteen years of age and with presently nine Girls’ Representative teams from under nine to under sixteen, FJSC has now one hundred and thirty–four girl members and is the fastest growing club for girls’ football in Merseyside. FINALLY ON BEHALF OF EVERYONE AT FJSC WE WISH ALL OUR 409 MEMBERS A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
