A Formby man who died from a heart attack following a fatal road traffic collision on Saturday has been named as Stephen McCambridge.

Mr McCambridge's family have paid tribute to the 54-year-old father-of-one and grandfather. The family of Stephen McCambridge have issued the following statement: “We as a family are completely devastated by the death of Stephen. "Stephen was a loving husband, father and more recently a grandfather. "He was a well-respected kind, caring, loving man who doted on his family."

A 55-year-old man driving a black Land Rover Freelander was killed in the crash which happened at the Cross Green roundabout outside Express Dry Cleaners at the junction with Liverpool Road, Formby on Saturday night.

The driver was taken to Southport Hospital but died a short time later.

Police were also investigating a scene a few hundred meters away from the crash scene at the junction of Altcar Road and Church Road.

The police cordon cut off an area between Rose Path and Cross Green Close.
