A 55-year-old man was taken to hospital after the collision on Cross Green roundabout

A man died after his car crashed through a safety barrier and hit a lamppost in Formby .
The crash happened at 7.50pm on the Cross Green roundabout outside Express Dry Cleaners in the village last night - Saturday 12th December.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue, the North West Ambulance Service, and the police allattended the scene of the accident at the junction with Liverpool Road.
Merseyside Police said the 55-year-old driver of a black Land Rover Freelander was taken to Southport Hospital but died a short time later. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

Police have completely blocked the roundabout off whilst they continue their investigations.
