Formby and Ainsdale Neighbourhood Inspector Jim Atherton said: "With the nights drawing in, homes are in darkness for longer and are vulnerable if left insecure. Local people can help us beat the burglars by ensuring their door, windows, garages and cars are locked properly whenever they leave the house unattended or go to bed. Once you get into the habit of doing a quick check it doesn’t take much time at all and can save you a lot of distress and hassle in the long run."
"We will also continue to distribute crime prevention advice to victims and residents, which is also available on the Force website."

Anyone with information in relation to burglary offences can contact officers in these areas, call 101 or or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
