John Parrott launches Fundraiser in Formby Village this Saturday
Snooker legend John Parrott will be the star of the show when he steps in to launch a Fundraiser for Formby’s Shyira Trust in Formby village this Saturday (October 17), outside Silver and Rose, from 9am.
Keith Burns, proprietor of Silver and Rose, has organised the fundraising day to help the Trust raise money towards the rebuilding of a maternity hospital in Shyira, Rwanda.
Keith said, “There will be cake, hot chocolate, a guess the weight of a Labrador puppy, musicians and a Bubble machine. We hope people will want to make some sort of contribution. I wanted to help because I think it is a worthwhile cause. We assist many charities during the year, and we know the work that has been put in by the Trust and its Chairman Allan Hobson.”
The Trust, which has been raising money for a poor part of Rwanda for around 10 years has improved the conditions of the current maternity hospital, supported children through school, started a coffee growing project, and built a children’s centre.
Now the maternity hospital has become overcrowded and the president Paul Kagame has sanctioned a new build to the tune of £300,000.
Professor Hobson said, “We are trying very hard to raise this money to help safe motherhood in this part of Rwanda and prevent maternal deaths. We hope people will come along and support us. We are grateful to Keith Burns and John Parrott for their help.”
The fundraiser kicks off at 9am and if you want to catch John Parrott be there early!
