Great British Beach Clean - Tomorrow at 10am

The Great British Beach Clean is back tomorrow at 10am. Everyone is welcome to come down and help with the clean up. Freshfield Beach at the National Trust.

Andy Laverick is a local Marine Conservation Society Sea Champion - local based volunteer. He is organising the Great British Beach Clean again tomorrow for Formby.

This September, Marine Conservation Society again is running the "Great British Beach Clean" as part of their Beachwatch surveying programme - helping people all around the UK to care for their coastline. The event runs between 18th and 21st of September

There is a big beach clean event at Formby this year. Formby's beach clean is on Monday 21st of September from 10.00 am. It will be at Freshfield beach again (on the national trust property). The previous national events last year saw a record breaking number of volunteers collect and recorded a whopping 273,747 pieces of litter. We would like to invite anyone that would be interested in helping to sign-up for this great LOCAL event to please visit www.mcsuk.org/greatbritishbeachclean.

The previous event was televised on National TV at Freshfield and was a great success. Please get involved and help to keep our Bubble Beach amazing.

Dozens of people headed to our stunning Formby Beach in May 2015 armed with plastic bags ready for a big clean up. The Big Beach Clean-up which is a voluntary activity the Marine Conservation Society has developed with Marks & Spencer as a way of involving their staff, customers, friends, family and anyone who is interested to help clean a beach and increase awareness of the problems litter in the marine environment can bring. It is also an opportunity to make people aware of what wonderful wildlife exists on our beaches and seas.

This was our friendly Lobster from Marks and Spencer (Plan A Officer - Andy Laverick)

Over fifty volunteers and more than one hundred school children came from across Merseyside to help clear up our beach. Plastic bottles, crisp packets, polystyrene, food cartons, pop bottles and even bigger things such as tarpolene and even a car bumper was retrieved!
