Male jailed for six weeks convicted of Theft from Morrisons in Formby

On Monday 10th August 2015, Bernard McCartney aged 45 years from Hertford Road, Bootle was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment for theft from Morrison’s in Formby two days earlier.
This was a result of good Police work from the local PCSTO’s.
On Saturday 8th August 2015 PCSTO Jackson and Stapley were on bicycle patrol when they noticed that he had a bulge under his coat. When they spoke with him he produced blocks of cheese and packs of steak worth £48 and confirmed they were from Morrison’s nearby.
The store was actually unaware of the theft at the time but this was confirmed on CCTV.
A Police officer was summonsed and the male was arrested and later charged with the offence. He was kept in custody and sentenced at his first appearance following a guilty plea.
Inspector Jim Atherton This was a really good piece of work by the PCSTO’s they were actually on their way to the Formby Train Station to patrol the Ainsdale area at the time. This shows there diligence and professionalism always keeping their eyes open for suspicious activity.
