Tony Higginson should be celebrating nearly 30 years in Formby but, instead he has closed Formby Books forever. This is the end of an era for Formby and a very sad day.
Tony didnt just offer a book shop, he offered a whole world of books and imagination, he offered a voice for Formby traders and constantly did so much for our community. Tony was an inspiration often voicing his opinions but, always in the interest of our Bubble.
Tony has brought so many big name writers into our village over the years and it is so sad to watch him walk away because of poor trading and not enough public support for the independant trader.
Bob Stone and Holly Bushnell, who worked at Formby Books, have launched a new venture in Waterloo, called Write Blend. Tony will help out where he can with his advice and expertise. Write Blend is a brand new bookshop and coffee shop in the heart of Waterloo. The majority of the books are new. The owners aren't and have many years of experience.
Write Blend, South Road, Waterloo, L22 0ND. Follow them on Twitter
Tony will continue to do his radio show on a Sunday morning from 9am to 12 noon. The radio show is on HCR - 92.3FM and is a childrens 3 hour show but, he also hoping to get a slot on a Wednesday evenings.
Formby Bubble would like to thank Tony for all his hard work and dedication to Formby and we wish you well in whatever you do in the future. Good Luck Tony.
