May 24th - UPDATE:
A 17-year-old is to appear before Liverpool magistrates over the Brows Lane incident
A teenager is set to appear in court over the stabbing of 17-year-old boy in Formby.
Police confirmed they had charged the teen, also 17, with wounding with intent and possession of a knife.
Officers were called out to Brows Lane in the village on Friday evening to reports that a youth had been stabbed. The victim was found with a stab wound to the side of his body and taken to hospital. He is said to be in a stable condition.
The suspect, who is from the Formby area but has not been named, is due to appear before Liverpool magistrates tomorrow (Monday).
He has also been charged with threatening a person with a blade following a separate incident in Formby on Thursday, May 21.
Patrols were stepped up in Formby as a result of the stabbing. The village was also rocked by a shooting
Detective Inspector Cheryl Rhodes said: “Thankfully, incidents such as this in Formby are very rare and we quickly arrested someone in connection with what happened.
“Our inquiries, however, remain at an early stage and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened, or has any information, to contact us as soon as possible.”
An investigation into the full circumstances continues.

May 22nd - 10:30pm - UPDATE:
Police have cordoned off an area on Brows Lane in Formby after reports of an alleged stabbing.
Merseyside Police have not confirmed a stabbing has taken place, but eye-witnesses say they saw a man being taken away in an ambulance.
One eyewitness said: “It happened around 6 o’clock and Police have been here for about an hour.
“We saw him holding his side and there was blood everywhere.”
It is alleged there is a 17-year-old victim involved.
Another shopworker nearby said: “There has been a stabbing we think and police have been there for about an hour.”
Forensics arrived at the scene near Formby’s Holy Trinity Church, which has been cordoned off by police tape.

May 22nd - 7:13pm
An ambulance, Paramedics and Police cars were in Formby Village at approximately 6:30pm this evening. The area next to and behind Flames pizza bar has been cordoned off because of an incident involving youths.
No further details have been released yet but we would advise everyone to stay away from the area.
