The National Rail strike next week is off.

Strike Action Postponed for Three Queens.....jpg

Merseyrail will now go back to the revised Three Queens timetable.

The Merseyrail network will be extremely busy during the Three Queens event. To accommodate the large number of passengers expected to travel, changes have been made to the planned train timetable. The changes will ensure that 6 car trains give access to the Liverpool & Wirral Waterfronts, as well as the Sefton Coast. Queuing systems will be put in place at key times to ensure a safe and reliable service continues.

Saturday 23 May

A normal service will run on all lines.

Sunday 24 May

Due to the early arrival of the Queen Mary, all Merseyrail services towards Liverpool will start one hour earlier. The first trains will leave at:

StationFirst Train

Chester....................07.00

Southport..............06.58

Ellesmere Port........06.49

Ormskirk..................07.20

New Brighton..........06.53

Kirkby.......................07.18

West Kirby...............07.01

Hunts Cross............07.06

A normal Sunday service will operate on all lines for the rest of the day, with all trains running as 6 car units.

Monday 25 May

To ensure crowds are managed safely and passengers have an enjoyable travel experience, access to city centre stations will be restricted at key times:

  • From 1pm all Northern line trains will not stop at Liverpool Central station. All Northern line passengers must use Moorfields station.

  • From 1pm James Street station will close. Wirral line passengers can use Liverpool Central or Lime Street low level station.

  • The Wirral line platform at Moorfields station will remain closed for refurbishment during the entire Three Queens event.

To accommodate the large crowds expected to travel, the following changes will be made to the Merseyrail timetable:

  • All trains on the Northern line will run at a 20 minute frequency from start to end of service.

  • Trains on the Wirral line will run every 15 minutes between 07:00 and 19:00 and every 30 minutes outside these times.

  • A rail replacement bus will run between Ellesmere Port & Hooton. This adjustment means 6 car trains can run at points on the Merseyrail network where large crowds are expected.

Passengers are advised to plan their journey and to allow extra time for travelling.

For more information on the 3 Queens schedule click here.

You can use the website Journey Planner, see travel information at your nearest Merseyrail station in the run up to the event, download the Merseyrail app or follow @merseyrail on Twitter for live travel information.

Some of the events during the Three Queens weekend will finish late which means significant demand for transport services from 10pm. Don’t leave it too late – allow time to get to the station and for there to be queues when you arrive there. Consider what your alternative options may be in getting home.
