Formby Man attacked with Bike Seat

Update:

A man suffered a fractured skull after he was hit over the head with a bicycle seat atFormby station.

He was at the station with friends when he tried to break up a fight - but was violently attacked with the seat and left unconscious.

He had to be taken to hospital after the incident, which took place last Saturday at 6.50pm.

British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses to the vicious attack, which left the victim with a serious head injury.

Investigating officer detective sergeant Nigel Goodband said: “The victim was with friends when he intervened in an altercation between a group of young men.

“As he did so he was hit in the head with a bicycle seat by one of the men, sustaining a serious head injury as a result.

“The victim had to be taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. It is vital we find who is responsible for this violent attack.”

An incident last night under the Formby Train Station Railway Bridge.

A gang of youths on bikes under the bridge had an altercation with a group of lads that had been drinking in The Railway. A youth on a bike pulled off his bike seat and hit a man with it. They fled when they realised he was badly hurt. The man was beaten with the bike seat under the bridge and seemed to be in a very bad way also hitting his head on the pavement and was unconscious for a while. The area was cordened off by Police. The Incident happened last night about 7pm.

We will try and keep you updated but, as yet, we have not heard anything about the mans injuries.
