Police called after man in black Mercedes offers pupil a lift to school and another youngster is spoken to ‘most inappropriately’

Merseyside schools are warning parents about ‘stranger danger’ after two children were approached in the street.

Mums and dads whose kids go to Forefield junior and infant schools, in Crosby, received text messages urging them not to let their children out of their sight.

The alarm was first raised after a year seven pupil was approached outside Crosby’s Chesterfield High School, just several hundred yards from the Forefield schools, by a man who invited the youngster into his black Mercedes car.

A message sent to Forefield parents and seen by the ECHO said: “Stranger danger: a year seven student from Chesterfield High School was offered a lift to school by a man in a black Mercedes. Police have been informed.”

A pupil at an unknown Seaforth school was then approached by a stranger a short while later.

A second text message sent out by the Forefield schools said: “(There was) a further incident in Seaforth.

“A year six girl was followed by a male and spoken to most inappropriately. Police have been informed.”

A third message to parents urged them to be aware of “two safeguarding incidents in the local area”.

It added: “Please keep children in sight at all times and report concerns to the police.”

Sefton council declined to comment on the reports because it is now a “police matter”. The ECHO is awaiting a statement from Merseyside Police.
