Steven Gerrard set to build Formby mansion despite LA Galaxy move.....

Liverpool FC legend Steven Gerrard wants to build a new mansion in Formby – even though he is set to leave Anfield for America.

The Reds captain has earmarked a 0.57-hectare site for a lavish five-bedroom home.

The multi-million pound house will have a ground floor with four reception rooms, two more reception rooms in the basement and five en-suite bedrooms on the upper level, along with a leisure area with swimming pool.

The impressive slate-roofed home will also feature a spa, sauna, kids’ playroom and kids’ homework room. A cinema, gym and ‘plant room’ are included downstairs in the proposed set-up.

There will also be staff and guest accommodation and garage space for two cars, according to plans submitted to Sefton council.

Gerrard, his wife Alex and their daughters – Lilly-Ella, 10, Lexie, eight, and Lourdes, three – move this summer to Beverly Hills in California when the midfielder joins LA Galaxy.

It is unclear if Gerrard will sell off his current Merseyside home, or rent it to tenants while he begins his new life in Tinseltown.

Council bosses said a decision was due shortly on the application, which will not need to go before a committee for approval.

A spokesman for Gerrard declined to comment on the planning application.
