UPDATE: Missing Formby Man Richard Cary located in Australia.....

UPDATE:

Richard Cary went missing from his Formby home on Valentine’s Day has turned up safe and well Adelaide in south Australia.

Richard Cary(50) disappeared earlier this month after going on a Saturday bike ride.

Police looking Manchester Airport and travelling to Australia but then the trail had “gone cold.”

Mr Cary this week contacted his family and told them that he is safe and in Adelaide in south Australia.

A police spokeswoman said: “We are no longer looking for Richard as he has been found safe and well.”

Son-in-law shares family photos in hope of tracing the 50-year-old who has been missing since Valentines Day.

The family of a man who has been missing since Valentines Day are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Richard Cary, 50, is a keen cyclist and member of Southport Cycling Club, his family have contacted the Southport Visiter to help trace him after they haven’t heard from him and his mobile phone has been switched off.

His son-in law Nathaniel Louise said: “This is so out of the ordinary, he has never done anything like this before and we are so worried about him as a family.

“He came back after his Saturday morning bike ride and seemed out of sorts with his wife Sue. He said he was on the phone with his daughter Fiona but he wasn’t - we have no idea who he was speaking to.

“Sue left and when she came back he had gone, leaving the house unlocked and food out on the kitchen side."

Nathaniel said: “The police have told us that they’ve traced him getting on a plane at Manchester Airport and travelling to Australia, but then the trail goes cold.

“As far as we know he has no friends and no family in Australia and we have no idea why he would have travelled there.

“He only took his toothbrush, wash bag and a few clothes, certainly not enough to start a new life anywhere.

“We know he loves his family. We are all really close and he is usually such a level headed man.

“We just want him to get in touch with us and tell us he’s safe. We’re unsure what his mental health is like at the moment and we are just going out of our minds with worry.”

Richard works for the Health and Safety executive in Bootle and didn’t turn up for work on Monday, his colleagues have also expressed their concern for his welfare.

His cycling club friends are also keen to know what’s happened.
