Terence Vasey sexually assaulted 64-year-old woman just weeks after being released from jail. A killer whose life of crime spans 40 years was sent back to jail after a sex attack on a 64-year-old woman.

Alcoholic Terence Vasey, 55, was locked up for three years after admitting sexual assault.

He had only just been released from prison when he struck at the woman’s home in Southport last October.

He exposed himself and groped the woman after his sexual advances were rebutted.

Vasey’s tragic history with alcohol goes back to 1997 when he killed a schoolgirl while drunk at the wheel.

Kerry Marlowe, 16, died as she walked hand in hand with her teenage sweetheart down Picton Road in Wavertree.

Boyfriend Christian Rainford was badly injured and Vasey was given a seven-year sentence.

He was later banned from being drunk in a public place or having an open bottle of alcohol anywhere in the country.

Christopher Taylor, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court that Vasey straddled over his victim after she refused his advances. He indecently touched her before running away when she screamed.

The court heard that he had previously served time for sex attacks on girls aged six and 12. His convictions for dishonesty span four decades.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones told Vasey, of Church Street, Southport: “It is very troubling to see you back again for a similar offence. It is right to say that the victim here is not a young girl but nevertheless she was 64 and she was vulnerable.”

The judge added: “There’s a very high risk that when you are at liberty again you will commit some form of sexual offence.”

Claire Jones, defending, said alcohol remained Vasey’s trigger to commit crime.

She said: “It is a vicious circle. He goes to prison, he is released, he feels that the structure upon his release is not what’s required to assist him in avoiding offending.

“Alcohol is the major problem for him. He understands that is something he will have to tackle when he is released.”
