Road Traffic Accident on the Formby By-Pass....
Firefighters freed a man from a Nissan Micra car after it hit the kerb and was in collision with a roundabout on Formby Bypass.
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene of the incident, near the junction with Liverpool Road in Formby, at around 3.20pm.
The car overturned and ended up in the roundabout.
Firefighters helped paramedics free an 88-year-old man from the vehicle using cutting equipment. He was taken to Aintree Hospital by ambulance.
Two fire appliances from Formby and Crosby community fire stations were called out along with the Search and Rescue Team. Firefighters were at the scene for around 40 minutes.
The male driver is not thought to be seriously hurt. The recovery vehicle is en route to remove the vehicle from the island. There are delays on the by-pass coming towards Formby from Liverpool.
