Gangs of lads, Intimidating and abusive, now going that one step further.....

This incident happened tonight between 6pm and 7pm.....

Just dropped my son off at cubs in the village and as I got back to my car a gang of lads where hanging around, so I locked my doors as felt very unsafe! As I drove down the village and turned into elbow lane they all stepped into the road in front of my car, so I had to stop as not to hit them! They then went round the back of my car and started banging on my roof and boot and started shouting obscenities at me, just glad my young son wasn't with me!! The village at night is increasingly becoming a very unsafe place to be with gangs that seem to be ever growing! Just thought I'd share this with you as I know it is an increasing problem, thank you

FACEBOOK COMMENTS ABOUT THIS INCIDENT.....

Leah Gallagher The police HAVE to stamp this out before it gets any worse. There's far too many recent, similar reports. You really should report it.

Formby Bubble I think she is going to report it Leah, we just told her the exact same thing

  • Kieron Sloan I live in Orrell Park, but lived in Formby ('65-'68), aged 7 to 10 (Sealand Avenue). It is a sad reflection of the times that we live in, that my childhood "home" is suffering from this type of anti-social behaviour ... Take care, everybody ...

Jay Whittaker I'm up for a bit of vigilante justice to make people feel safer in Formby. Makes me very angry these little sub humans.

Annabel Jones By the way particularly unhelpful comment from Neil Powell

Annabel Jones Police matter. Please report. They are actually cowards but do need reporting so that the issue can be addressed.

Annabel Jones Welcome to the new world of cuts. Police service is stripped back to bare bones so there will be fewer patrols. The answer lies with either a greater police presence or decent people in numbers who are willing to act. Rapid escalation of the problem will happen unless dealt with now. The parish council would be useful to involve.

Annabel Jones This has clearly stimulated a large debate. It is clearly a problem. This is clearly a use of Formby Bubble at its best........trying to solve an issue in our lovely community. The next logical step would be a meeting with representatives from the police and parish council. Any takers?

Jan Assheton Just tried to email the parish council and their security code thingy isn't working as code in lower case and site email only comes up in caps! Grrrrrrr

  • Janet Douglas You ought to report it. I go to the luncheon club of a Thursday and at 7 pm there are gangs with bikes no lights riding on the roads and pavements and hanging round Morrisons. Fortunately they don't intimidate me however I know that a lot of people feel vulnerable.

Rachel Burdett This is disgusting and terrifying. Surely gathering stories daily like this is enough to bring forward to the police. It's getting way out of control, this isn't simply bored teenage lads, it is now acts of criminal damage, intimidation and threatening behaviour; and to do this to a woman on her own is a step too far. Something seriously has to be done. I hope you're all ok.

Neil Powell Which was my point exactly..... Wherever it is or occurs is unacceptable and we r in danger of normalizing it n making excuses for it

Like · 1 · 23 minutes ago

Ken Gsm I think this is definitely a matter for the police. They should go down and confiscate their phones and check them for video evidence containing harassment and then prosecute them. They should also confiscate and remove any bikes without lights on and crush them. They would do it to our cars if we didn't have insurance. I also think Neils comment is perfectly valid as it just goes t show antisocial behaviour is becoming more the norm rather than the exception

Therese Maree Be careful if you do the above as they're likely to be enraged at you filming them. Just call the police

Joanna Durham Whip your phone out and take pictures of the little toerags if it happens again, then post them online/show the police. The problem is if there is no comeuppance at home... I wonder how many of their parents know what their darlings are up to?

Like · Reply · 2 · 55 minutes ago

Laura Coveney Sounds like a plan! Let's get hold of the shrinkage and pelt them with green chickens too! Parents might wonder what their darlings had been up to coming home stinking...nobody messes with iceland girls! x

Julie Parker I waa outside pool a few weeks ago and group of lads were hanging around. As I walked past one of them"pretended" to ride his bike into me.I told him he was an idiot and then noticed one of his giggling mates was capturing the whole thing on his mobile.I can understand people being intimidated by it.Always gangs of youths hanging around there.Police need to have a presence there before it all gets out of hand.

Pat Leason It's not just the police although they need to take better action than just moving them on - parents need to recognise this also - well done Formby Bubble for helping to raise awareness but if anyone can if it is possible be more descriptive it may help to distinguish and expose these trainee thugs!!

Nikki Robertson I'm fine, was shaken when I got home, I usually pick up from cubs, but paul went tonight instead as he didn't want me in the village again after dark! Madness!! Xx

Erica Squire Saw them the other day in a pack all over the busy pavement doing wheelies. Thought this was illegal in itself!? Now they're trying to intimidate people. Whether or not they are a serious threat, I don't understand why they are getting away with it.

Carol Yarwood I was talking to a police woman I know, only last week & she told me Formby is horrendous for anti social behaviour, much worse than surrounding areas

Joanne Harwood I work at a local shop in the village and live ten minutes away, I used to shut up the shop and walk home - but have felt very intimidated on my own recently. It's a horrible and as I don't drive (who would think you would need to when you live within 10 mins walking distance) on nights I'm on my own I now have to spend money on cabs all the time! We also have a trainee who has to wait for the bus and who I constantly worry about. It really is getting out of hand

George Rowland I've already spoken to the police about this gang of freaks. Last week they were in the Brows Lane flats car park (car park behind the post office) smoking and dealing drugs. I ended up going outside confronting them and asking them to leave, they then started spitting and throwing stones at my flat window! Must of been about 4/5 of them in a car and 2 on bikes. They soon left and I haven't seen them again since..

Annabel Jones A number of local youths are involved both in anti social behaviour and drug dealing. There are also youths from elsewhere who are involved. Regarding money being put into things for them to do look at where we are! I think the Ocal amenities are more than adequate!

Nichola Taylor We're having problems with gangs hanging around opposite our house. They play v loud music and race around the car park doing donuts. They are also drinking and now we've found out they've been doing drugs too. The mess they leave behind is a disgrace too. The caretaker has just said to call the police now. Sick of them waking our two young girls up. Bring back the local Bobby!! The police seem so far away these days.
