Shot fired at a house in Walton after men force their way into property

Man is threatened by two armed men

A shot was fired at a house in Walton after men forced their way into the property and threatened the man inside.

Officers were called to Stuart Road at just after 9.45pm yesterday, by a man reporting that two other men had forced their way into his house armed with what’s believed to be some form of firearm.

They threatened him before leaving the property.

Immediately after, the sound of a shot being fired was heard and officers found damage to the front window of the house consistent with a firearm being discharged.

No-one was injured during the incident.

An extensive search of the area was immediately carried out by officers in a bid to find those responsible.

Stuart Road remained closed to traffic in both directions this morning between Selina Road and Breeze Hill.

House-to-house inquiries are being carried out and high visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community.

An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing, although, detectives currently believe it was targeted.
