Weekend Warning for Visitors as Formby Car Parks Expected to Reach Capacity. Anyone planning a trip to Formby this weekend is being urged to think twice before travelling by car, as the National Trust expects its car parks to fill up very quickly due to the warm weather forecast.
With thousands expected to head to the coast, visitors are being encouraged to use public transport wherever possible, particularly the train, to help reduce congestion and avoid disappointment on arrival.

Formby is not a traditional seaside resort. It is a protected conservation area with limited parking and facilities, and visitors should be prepared for a walk through the woodlands and sand dunes before reaching the beach.
The National Trust says those looking for quick beach access, large car parks and extensive amenities may wish to consider alternative destinations during the busy weekend period.
RNLI lifeguards will be on duty at Lifeboat Road from 10am to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, while toilet facilities will be open from 9.30am until 4.30pm.
Visitors are also being reminded by the National Trust Formby to:
❌ Do not light fires or BBQs
✅ Leave access routes clear for emergency vehicles and local residents
✅ Take all litter home
✅ Respect the dunes, wildlife and protected habitats
In any beach emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
If you are planning to visit Formby this weekend, arriving by train rather than car could save you a long wait and help protect one of the country’s most important coastal nature reserves.
National Trust Formby also posted this about children being lost:

Little legs love to explore, especially in wild open spaces like Formby. Last Bank Holiday Monday, RNLI Lifeguards North West and our team helped reunite 27 children with their grown-ups.
For extra peace of mind, our Welcome Team have free wristbands for children. It’s a simple, positive step on busy days.
Simply write your mobile number on the band and place it on your child's wrist, so we can quickly reconnect you if needed.
Pop by and see us in the car park when you arrive.
