Something Very Special is Coming to Formby as The Little Hut of Hope Prepares to Open
Something very special is taking shape in Formby, with a lovely new community initiative being created with one simple aim at its heart: to spread kindness, hope and remind people that somebody cares.
The Little Hut of Hope is a new project being created by local woman Lesley, who has been quietly working behind the scenes to bring her idea to life.
The name itself has a special meaning. H.U.T. stands for Hearts United Together, while H.O.P.E. stands for Helping Others Positively Everyday.
Lesley describes The Little Hut of Hope as somewhere people will be able to visit when they need a little hope, comfort, encouragement or simply a reminder that someone is thinking of them.
When it opens, visitors will be invited to open the doors, have a look around and take whatever speaks to them, with absolutely no expectation that they have to give anything in return.
Exactly what will be waiting inside is being kept mostly as a surprise for now, which Lesley says is all part of the magic.
However, she has shared some of the ideas behind the project. These could include little pocket hugs, painted stones carrying words of hope, handmade bookmarks, tiny crystals, guardian angels, prayer bracelets, small handmade gifts, positive messages, wellbeing tips and information about local groups.
The idea is not about money. Something as simple as a small handmade item or a few kind words could be enough to brighten somebody’s day and let a complete stranger know that someone has thought about them.
Lesley has been busy painting, crafting and making things as the project comes together, and says she has loved watching an idea that began in her imagination gradually become something real.
But her hopes for The Little Hut of Hope go much further than the first one. She would eventually love to see Little Huts of Hope dotted throughout the local community, creating places where people can give, receive, share and connect.
Lesley also hopes the idea might inspire people elsewhere to create something similar in their own communities, allowing one small act of kindness in Formby to potentially travel much further.
There is still plenty of mystery surrounding the project. Lesley has not yet revealed exactly where Formby’s first Little Hut of Hope will be based, what form it will take or the date it will officially open.
What we do know is that it is nearly ready, with just a few finishing touches still to be completed before Lesley finally opens the doors and shares it with the community.
At a time when a small gesture can make a huge difference to somebody’s day, The Little Hut of Hope is a lovely idea with a very simple message at its heart.
