A fantastic achievement for Formby’s Range High School, which has been nationally recognised for delivering high-quality computing education and helping young people develop the vital digital skills they need for their future careers.
Range High School has proudly achieved the prestigious Computing Quality Mark, a national award recognising excellence in computing education and the outstanding provision offered to students as part of the school’s curriculum.
The award is presented by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) and is achieved following a comprehensive evaluation of a school’s computing provision through the Computing Quality Framework.
To receive the Computing Quality Mark, Range High School successfully demonstrated excellence across all seven areas of the framework, including leadership and vision, curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment, workforce development, meeting the individual needs of pupils, enrichment and careers, and overall impact and outcomes.
Mike McGarry, Headteacher at Range High School, said:
“I am thrilled that our school has been recognised in securing this prestigious award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of our brilliant Computing Team, as well as the great work and determination of our students, who are very adept at equipping themselves with the skills they need to flourish in their future careers.”
Sam Howes, Head of Computing, said:
“I am incredibly proud that our department has achieved the Computing Quality Mark. This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff and also celebrates our incredible students. Their enthusiasm, resilience and willingness to embrace new challenges make it a pleasure to be part of their journey.”
The achievement places Range High School among schools leading the way in delivering high standards of computing education and ensuring young people are equipped with increasingly important digital knowledge and skills.
Claire Garside, Senior Lead Facilitator at the NCCE, congratulated the school, saying:
“Congratulations to Range High School on becoming an NCCE ‘Computing Quality Mark’ school! They’re among the schools leading the way to deliver high standards in computing education. The Computing Quality Mark recognises the quality of their provision to ensure all students receive the computing skills and knowledge so valuable for today and in their future careers.”
The National Centre for Computing Education was established in 2018 and is funded by the Department for Education and supporting partners to improve computing education across England.
Since its establishment, the NCCE has engaged with 60,000 teachers from more than 20,000 schools, while its Teach Computing Curriculum has seen more than one million lesson downloads. More than 1,600 schools have engaged with the Computing Quality Framework, and the organisation has supported 54% of students studying AS and A-level computer science through the Isaac Computer Science platform.
This latest national recognition is a tremendous achievement for Range High School and a proud moment for its staff, students and the wider Formby community.
Congratulations to everyone at Range High School on this fantastic and well-deserved achievement!
