There were wins for Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 11 Blacks, FJSC Under 13 Whites and an excellent result for the Under 7’s on a weekend when all home matches were cancelled and only five away matches went ahead. This was due to heavy rainfall which caused pitches to be waterlogged. In addition Inter Club football and all training sessions were also cancelled. The forty-six boys who did get to represent the club all played exceptionally well for their respective teams.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 11 Blacks continued their tremendous start to the season with anotherfine win against Southport and Ainsdale Blues. There was a hat trick for Olly Stinson, another brace from the team’s top scorer Alex Rowley and a single strike from Ashley Jones.Olly Stinson earned Man of the Match for a dynamic performance in the heart of the midfield which included curling a beautiful free kick into the top corner after being fouled.
Although the team started slower than usual once they found their rhythm it was quite a commanding performance. A special shout out to the defence and goalkeeper Max Byford for securing their first clean sheet as well! FJSC Under 11 Blacks have a brilliant one hundred per cent record winning all ten of their matches so far this season. See squad photograph above.
FJSC Under 13 White travelled to Crosby to take on Marina Sands Phoenixes in what turned out to be a comfortable 10 nil victory. The Marina Sands team worked hard and defended resolutely for the first twentyminutes with Formby struggling to break them down. It was a set piece which eventually led to the breakthrough with Matthew Crutchley’sneat front post finish. Further goals from AlbieSalters, Nik Kostakis and Lewis Cregeenextended the lead by half time. In the second half the Whites added to their total with Man of the Match Albie Salters scoring a team record six goals in one game. Well doneAlbie!
FJSC Under 7 Whites played Southport Trinity White at the Rookery. In a tightly fought first half with lots of good defending from Southport Trinity the game remained goalless. Persistent play from Formby with great skill and dribbling from Teddy Gillingham led to a well taken goal from McEddy Osei Assibey. Throughout the whole game William Laugley defended brilliantly and deserved being named Man of the Match. McEddy Osei Assibey scored his second goal of the match to double the lead before Southport Trinity were given a chance to get back in the game with a well taken goal.
Thomas Daly, Mikey Tucker and Toby Woodcock worked tirelessly to see FJSCfinish the game with another goal for McEddyOsei Assibey to complete a great hat trick andto round off a very good team performance.
FJSC Under 6 Whites and FJSC Under 6 Blacks travelled to Goals in Netherton and are gaining valuable experience playing teams from all over Merseyside in the Sefton and Knowsley Development League.
FJSC Under 6 Whites had a difficult game against FC Kirkby Betis. The team kept their composure throughout and stuck together. All of the hard work on the training pitch is starting to pay off and the team passed the ball well and created some good chances including well-taken goals from Adam Jadid-Leech and Leo Clarke. Roman Crowney, Gabe Zertaland Arthur Pollard also played well but the Man of the Match award went to Ezekiel Fitzgibbon for another fine display.
FJSC Under 6 Blacks were in action against Litherland Grey. It was a superb game of football which was end to end throughout. Formby conceded early but then rallied to get back into the game. Josh Kefford, GeneDugdale and Arthur Sumpton scored some fantastic goals. FJSC created some good chances at the end to nearly steal a win in this exciting high scoring draw.
