One hundred percent records so far this season for Formby Junior Sports Club. Franks report here…

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 9 Blacks, the Under 9 Whites Sunday team and the Under 11 Blacks Saturday team all won again to maintain their one hundred per cent records so far this season.

It was another weekend disrupted by the weather which meant every home match including Inter Club football at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields had to be cancelled for the second weekend in succession due to waterlogged pitches and unplayable pitch surfaces.  Ten Representative team matches were cancelled in total and only a handful of matches went ahead.

FJSC REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

It was a very muddy and wet day but FJSC U9 Blacks played their strongest opponents yet, Southport FC Yellows.  As with the match against them earlier in the season there was only one goal between the teams. Both played some excellent football. The Blacks conceded their first goal with a shot from Southport which landed in the top right corner.  However, the FJSC Blacks played to their strengths and shortly after equalised with a goal from Jack Hansen with Ashley Jones assisting.

The Southport FC Yellows continued to be a formidable opponent and went 2-1 up.  Another equaliser was scored by Noah Underwood who earned himself Man of the Match with his great performance in midfield.  The latter part of the second half saw FJSC Blacks’ fitness and strength dominate the game with an unbelievable assist from Jackson Ebo to Jack Hansen for FJSC Black’s third goal.  The power and drive continued with another goal from Jackson Ebo which proved to be decisive and the match winner.   Goalkeeper Maxwell Byford made some excellent saves keeping the FJSC Blacks on top.  A special mention to Joseph Kerrigan too who had an outstanding game with stints in defence & midfield. See the photograph above of the FJSC Under 9 Blacks squad and management team.

In heavy rain FJSC Under 9 Whites Sunday team put in an excellent team performance away at Southport Athletic Reds.  The passing by FJSC was slick and the movement off the ball provided the Whites with plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the game.  The Whites grabbed early goals through man of the match Theo White who went on to bag a hat-trick.  The attacking play continued allowing Henry Williamson, Walter Ramsdale, Isaac Ade, Jack Haggart, Seb Hodgson and James Smith to all get on the scoresheet as well.

FJSC Under 11 Black continued their Premier League fixtures with a game against Town Green.  The match started at a good pace and FJSC soon took control when Ellis Coyne opened the scoring with a brilliant header from the first of many corners.   This gave FJSC the encouragement to push on for more goals and soon afterwards Louis O’Connor scored to double the lead.  FJSC controlled the first half without letting Town Green get a shot on goal.  A forward run from left back saw Finley Scott finish into the far corner to make it 3 nil.   Just before half time Louis O’Connor made it 4-0 with good passing from the back to front of the team opening up Town Green.

The second half was not as fluent and no further goals were scored until near the end when from another corner, Alex Barr volleyed home a cross into the net to round off FJSC’s scoring.  Man of the match was Ellis Coyne who had his best game of the season so far.

FJSC Under 9 Reds travelled to Southport Athletic Whites. FJSC started the game well with some great work in midfield and defence. Once again Isaac Ignatowicz and Adam Tyler- Holland linked up well and it wasn’t long before the hard work paid off when Adam was put through to score for FJSC. SouthportAthletic pushed for the equaliser, but FJSC worked hard to defend with some great clearances from goalkeeper Luke Madutlela. Southport managed to score the equaliser just before half time.

The Reds started the second half with ambition and some great runs from Zidane Reeves-Gendia and Rafi Omar put Southport back under pressure.  This paid off when Rafi Omar collected the ball in the midfield and went on a super run which ended in a great goal from the forward. Southport once again fought back and scored to bring the game back level again. Both sides battled well and pushed for the winner, when another powerful cross from Isaac Ignatowicz ran into the path of Adam Tyler-Holland who took the ball and finished to put FJSC back into a deserved lead. FJSC held on to the lead until with just thirty seconds left on the clock a corner ball was passed to a Southport Athletic player who’s shot at goal managed to get through into the net bringing the game to a close at 3-3.

It was a very good all round performance from FJSC Under 9 Reds with Owen Edneyworking tirelessly in midfield on his full debutand came close to scoring with a shot whichjust went wide. Owen’s commitment and passing earned him the Man of the Matchaccolade.

FJSC Under 11 Whites played Southport Athletic in tough conditions at Bedford Road. An even first half saw Athletic take the lead with superior finishing.  FJSC were competitive and a missed penalty shortly before half time was an unfortunate missed opportunity to make the game close going into the second half.  Southport Athletic adapted to the conditions better in the second half and ran out comfortable winners. There were someexcellent performances from Noah Lace in defence and Man of the Match GregoryHoughton in goal.

FJSC Under 14’s started the game brightly against Northern Yellows and took the lead after two minutes when Dylan Madeley playing in a new striker role set up Alfie Holden to score.  Northern drew level very quickly and scored again to go 2-1 ahead before half time.  FJSC had a bad five minute spell early after the break and conceded three goals.  Alfie Holden pulled a goal back but Northern scored again to win 6-2.

FJSC Under 7 Whites were in action against Formby Community FC in the pouring rain.  It was a thrilling match from start to finish.  FJSC went in at half time leading 2-1.   There were goals galore in the second half with Logan Haggart scoring a first hat trick for FJSC.  Back stormed Formby CFC and with five minutes to go the score was 5-5.  For the first time in this pulsating match Formby CFC took the lead with two minutes remaining.  FJSC Under 7 Whites did not give up and Archie Jones closed down a Formby CFC defender and set up FJSC’s Franklin Chignell who scored a very late equaliser to secure a well-deserved draw.   Ben Donnelly and Lucas Byrne were impressive with lots of tackles.  Luke Clarke showed some brilliant runs with the ball and Thomas North was again outstanding in goal.  Well done to both teams.  It was a fantastic match enjoyed by all the very enthusiastic spectators.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks seem to play every Sunday regardless of what the weather throws at them.  It was their eleventh match of the season all played on the artificial playing surface at Goals in Netherton.  The boys had a great match with Marina Sands and in the first third of the match went into a good lead. The second and last third of the encounter was very even but the quick start made by FJSCBlacks proved to be the difference between the two teams.   Thomas Mitchell and Theo Thomas scored the goals but were well supported by Max Healey, Oliver Jones and Tayo Popoola. As ever the boys worked really well and are becoming a really good team, all helping each other

The Man of the Match was shared betweenTheo Thomas for his overall performance plustwo great finishes and Ollie Jones who continues to battle all the way through the game with some great tackling and constant energy.

FJSC Under 6 Whites played their tenth match of the season also at Goals in Netherton in the Sefton Development League.   It was a very exciting match with ESC Grey which ended in a ten goal thriller with honours equal.  At one time the Whites were 4-2 down but fought back well which reflected the game and a fair result for both teams. There were some brilliant goals from Noah Ignatowicz and Leo Rogers. Cormac Nice and Sonny Clarke wererocks at the back and Arthur Higgins and Archie Parrish worked tirelessly up and downthe pitch all game.
