National Trust: You may have noticed some changes happening recently at the family picnic site to the north of the site.
After many years of service, the old wooden boardwalk there had reached the point where it needed to be replaced.

Instead of rebuilding it like-for-like, we removed it and gave the landscape time to settle naturally to see what would work best here to improve access.
Over the past few months, the wind and sand have been busy reshaping the area, which has flattened out quite a lot.
Recently the team have been installing a new stone footpath, similar to others you’ll find nearby.
This option will not only sit more gently within the landscape, but it will also last longer in the wild and natural environment, as well as being easier to maintain.
Work should be complete in the next week or so. Thank you to our amazing regular volunteers for supporting the ranger team with this work.
We’re also exploring other ways to improve this area for everyone who loves to use it.
