Much loved Formby resident Peter Pun, affectionately known as ‘Peter Potato’, sadly passes away

We are very sad to share the news of the passing of much loved Formby resident Peter Pun, a familiar face who was known and loved by so many people across the village.
We are sharing this announcement on behalf of a very dear family friend, and we know that many people in the Formby community will find this news incredibly difficult to hear.
Peter was known not only for his cheeky smile and wonderful personality, but also for feeding what sometimes felt like half of Formby with his award winning potatoes, earning him the affectionate nickname “Peter Potato”.
Peter’s daughter, Mai Ling, has shared the heartbreaking news that her wonderful dad passed away peacefully on Tuesday 9th September following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Peter loved living in Formby and became very well known throughout the village over the years. His warmth, character and unmistakable smile meant that he made an impression on so many of the people he met.
Funeral arrangements
Peter’s funeral will take place on 29th September at 12pm at St Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Crosby, L23 5TE.
This will be followed by Thornton Crematorium at 12.45pm.
Family and friends are then invited to the Formby Club in Formby for refreshments and to come together to remember Peter and celebrate his life.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Peter’s daughter Mai Ling, his family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him at this incredibly sad time.
Peter will undoubtedly be very much missed by many people throughout Formby.
Rest in peace, Peter “Peter Potato” Pun.
